Yardwaste Collection
Waukegan's New Yardwaste Collection Rules

According to our new garbage and waste collection contract, Waukegan residents that want to discard yardwaste and other landscape materials have two options for the disposal of these items on their regularly-scheduled garbage collection day.

1) Season Subscription for a flat rate fee which covers the nine month period from March 15 to December 15 and is limited to ten (10) 33 gallon containers or “kraft” style bags per week. Call 847-623-3870 to register for this service. $125 per household

2) Pay-Per-Bag sticker system that requires the homeowner or resident to purchase stickers from authorized retailers to adhere to each yardwaste bag or container requiring disposal. $2.25 per sticker

Plastic Bags & Containers
Plastic bags are strictly prohibited. Yard waste in plastic bags is not accepted in yard waste and compost disposal sites. Residents using their own containers must clearly mark the containers “yard waste” with letters a minimum four inches high. Containers should be in good shape and have a few small holes in the bottom for drainage. Do not place yard waste in the dark blue, 96-gallon garbage cart.
